"I really appreciated the fact that this books brings us back to an event in Canadian history and answers the question about how a survivor may have endured through the after-math of of a tragedy by bringing all to life in Evelyn, the heroine, and those around her. This historical fiction brings us through the love, fear, searching, desperation, hard choices, and re-building of a new life that Evelyn experienced. I definitely enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next book in the series. In the meantime, I will satisfy myself by re-reading this novel."

Leah Lindeman's first published novel nicely weaves Canadian history and a romantic story. The characters are colourful yet believable and there is just enough intrigue to make you want to keep reading to find out how the story ends.

Leah has written a book that is incredibly refined in style yet so easy to read. The storyline, though simplistic in nature at first, quickly becomes far more complex than the reader could have imagined. A truly captivating read!
